The Department of Stomatology

The Department of Stomatology provides specialized and superspecialized care for adults and pediatric patients within the West-Bohemian region. It conducts diagnosis and therapy of diseases of the oral cavity, face and surrounding tissues and organs, whether they are inflammatory, traumatic, tumor or aesthetic. Care is provided both in outpatient and inpatient settings.

Dentists can use a wide range of modern equipment: 3D CBCT X-ray, intraoral scanners, CAD/CAM technology, operating and preparation microscopes, LASERS, and 3D planning for orthogonal and reconstructive procedures.

For many years, the Department has been specialized in facial traumatology, orthogonal surgery, cancer treatment, mini-in-vasive diagnosis and treatment of major salivary glands.

In its activities it closely cooperates with a number of other Departments of the University Hospital Pilsen, among others with the Department of Plastic Surgery, Department of Neurosurgery, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Department of Ophthalmology and Department of Infectious Diseases and Travel Medicine. It is one of five educational institutions in the Czech Republic for pregradual teaching of dentistry and general medicine students and postgradual studies in the specializations of orthodontics, maxillofacial surgery and dentistry.

The experts of the Department of Stomatology aim their research on prevention, development of new techniques, materials and medical procedures in traumatology and implantology (nano-technology), use of laser, tissue regeneration.
