The Surgical Department provides outpatient and inpatient care for patients with surgical, orthopedic and traumatological diseases from across the entire West Bohemian region and, in some cases, the entire Czech Republic. The outpatient section includes a 24-hour surgery and individual specialized outpatient and counseling centers. There are also two operating halls for outpatient services.
The Department deals with the general surgery of malignant and non-malignant diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and breast, mini-invasive laparoscopic surgery, bariatric and metabolic surgery, soft tissue surgery, vascular surgery, traumatology, and orthopedic surgery including large joint replacements.
The Department of Surgery fully cooperates with the Department of Anaesthesiology and lntensive Care, especially in cases of complicated postoperative care. Cooperation with the University Hospital Department of lmaging Methods achieves the highest standards for diagnostic examinations. There is also very close cooperation with the Department of Oncology and Radiotherapeutics, as well as with the Department of Internal Medicine and the Internal Department, who fully provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including acute endoscopic procedures.
Since 2019, the Surgical Department has had a new independent PREMIUM Department which is spatially separated from the standard ward. The patient only pays for a higher standard of accommodation.
